Hans rarely sat still. It's why we called him Hurricane Hans. He couldn't just sit at the beach. If the waves were good, he'd surf them riding one of his nine different boards, one for every kind of wave. Watch his video (click here --->) "Seaglass Project" to see him surf his finless board. If the waves were bad but there was some good shorebreak, he'd skimboard. If the wind was up, he'd kitesurf. If it was too rainy he'd take his Jeep mudding. If there was snow, he'd be out snowboarding. See his video "Southern Snowboarding" to see how he did it in our neighborhood one snowstorm). Or he'd mountain bike, or get a game of paintball going, or build some bike jumps, or make a movie. Hans didn't just do triathlons, he was a champion triathlete. He didn't just shoot guns, he was a knowledgeable marksman. He was a rockclimber, an ice climber, a longboarder, a skateboarder, a runner, a reader, a drummer. He had a way of getting other people excited about his sports and found ways to get his sister, his parents, and friends involved in each of his activities.
We miss his motivational spirit.
