Going Forward

Hans did not know I was taking this photo from afar

Hans's earthly body expired peacefully this morning due to the catastrophic extent of his injury. His spirit will continue to be a part of this earthly world as his vibrant organs and tissues will sustain many others.

This is the note we sent with his caregivers as he proceeded in for his final test for independent breathing:

"If you want to see just a few of Hans's many talents please watch his YouTube videos. Now it's your job to see that his organs and tissues can enable the talents of others.

Given to you with Loewen Love"

The song "Shine" by Collective Soul was a new and popular song close to the day of his birth. It became "Hans's Song" for us (Zatha's is "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns N' Roses). Uncountable times during his brilliant 20 years we would crank the stereo and dance and sing to his song and on each of his birthdays. We invite you to dance and sing along too.

We did this again for the last time today as he headed off for what became his final test. Zatha rendered unto him his last salute as his bed rolled forward. Our hope is to now go forward with faith, compassion, and love. And our love to all of you, Jennifer, Eric, and Zatha
